WELCOME TO PIRCVILLE
This weeks challenge is we are going to get started on making Pircville! I had thought to make this a "Pass the Parcel" but I think the feedback from you is you didn't want to wait forever until your turn came around! So, I am making it the Objects R Us Challenge and we'll give it at least two weeks (maybe three if people still need time).
The challenge is simple. We are going to build an old-fashioned village in storefront mode. We are going to do it in 2D to make it easier. I said I would start by making the Post Office, Town Hall and Railroad station so here is what I picture PIRCVILLE to look like.

I'll tell you right off, this was to be a Christmas Village but, as you can see, I make very poor snow, besides if I make it a seasonal village, that's the way it will stay. So instead, we will just make a village we can change when the mood strikes us. Easter, Halloween, Christmas, etc! So forget about the snow and ice and Christmas lights and Christmas tree I put in the example above.
Sparrow painted the background as a winter scene but she did say she could do other scenes as needed. So, we'll make a village we can change as necessary!
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
I have the templates of the streets already made and ready to go. All I need is your storefront! Now for the important part. When you make your storefront, make it as an object! Please merge your storefront as a single object and save it as a UFO file. Then, zip it and email it to me at barlekis@yahoo.com. Please put Pircville in the subject line so I will know what it is.
Then you can save the object as a jpg and post it here for everyone to see. This is important for the workshop students so their mentors can give them credit.
I am going to take your UFO and remove the storefront and assemble the streets. Once I get them all assembled, I will post them here, on the Objects webpage. If ML wants them posted somewhere else, we can do that too. Her choice.
Now for the dimensions... In order to make the village look fairly real, I need you to follow some easy guidelines. I am going to limit your store to 160 pixals across. This is the size of one lot (see Post Office and Town Hall above). Now you can build up but only to 300 pixals. So your storefront can be almost twice as high as it is wide.

I want most of you to keep your storefronts to those dimensions. But there may be stores which may need to be wider than higher (see the Rail Road Station above). Maybe the carriage works or auto park or something like that. I can put those in but please follow the dimensions in the second illustration. Email me if you want to expand and use two lots.
So we build the village without seasonal decoration. I can turn the images over to Sparrow. Then she or one of her terrific colleagues can paint in the season. Snow, leaves, fireworks! Maybe, she can run that as a challenge in her forum.
Well, I hope I have covered everything and if there are any questions, post them here and I will try to answer. You may do two, three or more storefronts. Your choice! It doesn't matter if two people do the same type. Remember, competition is the cornerstone of a healthy economy.
AND DON'T FORGET TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THE STORE!
Perhaps Mary Lou's Winery or HLV's Blacksmith. We want to know who made the storefront.
In case you forgot, here is what everyone wanted to do...and a list (but not complete) of other stores you may want to try. Happy designing!
